RES4Africa Foundation announces its participation in the upcoming webinar, "Enhancing Investments in Renewable Energy and Regional Connectivity Across West Africa," organised by IRENA Coalition for Action and scheduled for Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, from 10:30 to 12:00 WAT/CET.
West Africa, with its abundance of renewable energy resources and a dynamic mix of energy-exporting and energy-deficit nations, stands at the threshold of transformative energy developments. The World Bank's estimate of substantial annual savings through integrated power trade emphasizes the urgent need to attract energy investments for economic development in the region. The event will comprehensively address the region's challenges and opportunities, focusing on the significance of promoting regional integration.
The session will cover the African Continental Master Plan (CMP) for electricity generation and transmission, delve into West Africa's electricity sector, and present recommendations from the Policy Brief titled “Scaling up renewable energy investments in West Africa”. This brief, developed and published by the IRENA Coalition for Action, and co-authored by Coalition members RES4Africa Foundation and Enel Green Power, serves as a guiding document for advancing renewable energy initiatives in the region.
This online event will serve as a comprehensive platform for exploring West Africa's vast renewable energy potential and the pivotal role of cross-border energy trade. The agenda, featuring distinguished speakers, will shed light and foster debate on key aspects of regional energy development.
