RES4Africa is happy to announce its participation in the 2nd Mediterranean Green Week (24–25 June, Brussels), a key gathering organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) to strengthen regional cooperation on climate resilience, environmental governance, and the green transition.
The event brought together all 43 UfM Member States, financial institutions, and regional stakeholders, providing an important platform to align on shared goals for a sustainable and inclusive future. Representing RES4Africa, Senior Policy and Regulatory Officer Rima Jreich actively contributed throughout the two-day event.
On the first day, the focus was on accelerating the renewable energy transition in the Mediterranean. Discussions centered on the growing role of green hydrogen and the financial instruments supporting this shift, especially in the Southern Mediterranean. A critical theme was the urgent need to diversify financing mechanisms to unlock opportunities in countries where investment in large-scale infrastructure remains uncertain or high-risk. RES4Africa believes that achieving a just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition requires tailored and flexible financing models, mechanisms that not only attract investment but also empower diverse stakeholders to actively shape the region’s energy future.
On the second day, Rima joined the Capacity Building panel on gender-lens investments in climate action and green finance. She advocated for the pivotal role of women-led businesses in driving inclusive green growth, highlighted RES4Africa’s commitment to integrating gender equity into renewable energy finance and programming, shared scalable models for supporting women-led green ventures across the Mediterranean and Africa, and emphasized the need to build investment ecosystems that empower women entrepreneurs in the climate space.
