RES4Africa Foundation, Enel Foundation, and UM6P Successfully Conclude Technical Training Modules with Support from the Mattei Plan for Africa

Ben Guerir, Morocco, October 24th, 2025 – RES4Africa Foundation, Enel Foundation, and the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P), with the support of the Mattei Plan for Africa, proudly announce the successful conclusion of Modules 3 & 4 of the Technical & Vocational School on Decentralized Renewable Energy Solutions.

The ten-day training, held from 15–24 October 2025 at UM6P in Ben Guerir, marked the next phase of this transformative initiative, moving from technical foundations to operational excellence in decentralized renewable energy deployment. 25 young professionals from across Africa participated, selected in collaboration with UM6P’s ReBuild initiative, which supports communities affected by the 2023 earthquake in Morocco, and CorpsAfrica, which trains volunteers to facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects in rural communities. Participants, already equipped with practical renewable energy experience, completed an advanced program designed to equip them with the skills to deploy, operate, and sustain decentralized energy systems on the ground.

During the course, participants deepened their knowledge in procurement, contracting, and construction of decentralized energy systems, operations and maintenance with an emphasis on emergency response, health and safety protocols for solar and storage solutions, and business models, financing, and economic fundamentals.

The modules were structured into thematic days covering the full operational and economic cycle of decentralized renewable energy, from procurement, construction, and safety management to business modelling, project economics, and sustainable finance. Sessions were led by experts from academia, industry, and partner institutions, including ENGREEN, Green Energy Park (GEP), and UM6P Laboratory of Inorganic Materials for Sustainable Energy Technologies (LIMSET), ensuring both technical depth and practical application.

The conclusion of Modules 3 & 4 facilitated knowledge exchange and networking among the participants, fostering long-term professional relationships and strengthening collaboration across the African energy sector. The courses not only advanced technical expertise but also promoted stronger partnerships between Italy and African nations, in alignment with the Italian Government’s Mattei Plan for Africa, which prioritizes the promotion of skills and competences necessary for the energy transition and to encourage the creation of decent jobs at a continental level.

RES4Africa Foundation, Enel Foundation, and UM6P celebrate the participants’ achievements and reaffirm their commitment to empowering professionals ready to deliver tangible impact across the continent.
