Rome, 16th May 2022 –Kenya is one of the fastest-growing economies in sub-Saharan Africa, with equally rapid growth in its renewable energy sector. For this reason RES4Africa decided to resume its in-person presence in Africa with the event Kenya Renewable Energy Exchange, hold on the 11th of May in Nairobi. The gathering, organised in collaboration with the Electricity Sector Association of Kenya (ESAK), was focused on the ideal policy and regulatory approaches to ensuring the smooth adoption of auctions for the procurement of renewable energy capacity, as well as the assessment of essential adaptations for the integration of battery storage into the grid for a greener future for Kenya.
The event was a unique platform for a dialogue with high-level stakeholders from Kenya’s energy sector, both public and private entities, with representatives from the Ministry of Energy, EPRA, Kenya Power, and Strathmore University as well as IFC -International Finance Corporation, Enel Green Power, RINA, Schneider Electric, and Gridspertise. With the occasion, RES4Africa showcased also its most recent initiative, Grids4Africa, with aspecial session dedicated to the maximisation of Kenya's electricity grid potential in order to meet the country's renewable energy and electrification goals and achieve a just energy transition.
