Applications are now open for the 33rd Edition of the RES4Africa Academy Technical and Vocational School

RES4Africa Foundation, with the support of knowledge partner Enel Foundation, is launching the 33rd edition of the RES4Africa Academy Technical and Vocational School (former MGA), implemented together with Strathmore University, and in collaboration with AVSI  Foundation and St. Kizito VTI. The training sessions will be held entirely in person from the 27th to the 31st of May 2024.

This edition will focus on Micro-Grid Academy: Module #4 – Economics and regulatory frameworks, according to the 4-Module standard curriculum which aims to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the entire value chain of mini-grids for rural electrification. Through hands-on lab experiences and working groups, students will delve into renewable energy technologies. This module covers topics such as Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) economics, various business models, micro project financing, and the energy policy, legal, and regulatory framework. Special attention will be given to Kenya's country-specific context in terms of regulations and policies.

The target beneficiaries will comprise 25 participants, among students, technicians, operators, managers, entrepreneurs and other RE professionals from all African States, particularly Kenya and East Africa. Applicants under 30 and women of any age are particularly encouraged to apply, as well as students who have already attended Modules 1, 2 and 3 and now have the opportunity to complete the training cycle.

The course will be held physically at Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya, with possible field visits and additional practical training at other partners' facilities also in Nairobi. Lessons will be conducted by local and international experts from academia, TVET, and the public-private sector.

Upon successful completion of the training, a certificate of attendance will be granted to the trainees who have attended at least 70% of the total amount of training hours, and successfully completed the final exam and survey.
