Ben Guerir, Morocco, July 1st, 2025 – RES4Africa Foundation, Enel Foundation, and the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) have officially launched two capacity-building programmes with the support of the Mattei Plan for Africa.
From July 1st to 10th, the Second High-Level Course on Renewable Energy and Energy Transition and the first Technical & Vocational School on Decentralized Renewable Energy Solutions are taking place at UM6P in Ben Guerir.
Gathering over 60 participants from across the continent, the programmes aim to boost managerial and technical skills essential to foster Africa’s energy transition. Through an engaging mix of lectures, case studies, and interactive sessions led by international experts, participants will gain practical tools and strategic insights into key aspects of the renewable energy sector.
The High-Level Course, now in its second edition, is tailored for policymakers, senior professionals, and energy experts. It focuses on governance, regulatory frameworks, financing models, and regional cooperation to support large-scale renewable energy deployment. By fostering dialogue and knowledge exchange, the course aims to reinforce institutional capacity and accelerate strategic decision-making across Africa’s energy landscape.
The Technical & Vocational School combines the coordination efforts of TechniX, UM6P’s vocational training arm, with the community-driven insights of ReBuild, a UM6P initiative focused on solar opportunities in the El Haouz region. RES4Africa brings extensive experience in developing local technical capacity across Africa. Twenty-five participants from El Haouz villages in Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Ghana, and Mauritania are receiving practical training to operate, maintain, and expand decentralized solar systems that currently support drinking water and irrigation. Through technical instruction, hands-on workshops, and site visits, the program equips participants with the skills to implement sustainable, community-owned energy solutions.
The trainings represent a concrete step in strengthening partnerships between Italy and African nations and promoting knowledge-based solutions to accelerate sustainable development across the continent.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) for their unwavering support and pivotal role in facilitating the arrival of participants from across Africa to Morocco.
