In the framework of the upcoming COP27, RES4Africa has organised the event Youth Empowerment for Driving African Energy Transition, which will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh on the 15th of November, from 9.00 to 10.00 AM local time, at the 4th Capacity Building Hub. The appointment will be focused on how to boost the socioeconomic positive externalities of green energy investments, with a structured focus on the African youth.
By 2050, the Africans aged 15-24 will be 830 million, and their role will be determinant both to the outcomes of the energy transition and to the struggle against climate change. It is therefore no surprise that African youth will be both one of the main target audiences, and one of the most important topics of the fifth African COP.
RES4Africa seeks to bring its contribution by hosting a thematic event in collaboration with its network of youth representatives. The gathering will engage with young energy leaders and changemakers, developing on their testimonies about challenges, potential opportunities and features of a youth-led African energy transition. It will also be the privileged context to introduce the three 2022 winners of RES4Africa’s Young Talent of the Year Award; together with other leaders and decision makers from the energy world, they will build a dialogue for climate change policymaking.
To allow a wider international attendance, the event will be livestreamed.
