Rome, 10th March 2022 – The 22nd edition of the Micro Grid Academy successfully ended today. Held between the 1-3 and 8-10th March 2022, this edition was destined professionals from 20 countries of the MENA Region for the first time, including Sudan, Egypt, Mauritania, Algeria, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, Somalia and Somaliland, Djibouti, Yemen, Libya, Syria and Palestine. Out of 135 participants, 56% of them aged between 20-30 years old and 25% were Female.
The training, implemented by RES4Africa Foundation in collaboration with the Regional Center for Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) and supported by Enel Foundation, was focused on the introduction to the value chain of the renewable energy decentralized systems. The e-lectures were carried out thanks to the contribution of trainers from private companies, local and international universities and other institutions, such as the Regional Center for Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), Strathmore University, Avsi Foundation, BFP, Youth Business International, Afry, CEBC clean energy business council, Engreen, ANME (National Agency for Energy Conservation), ENEA, Cape Town University and Technical Solidarity.
The training sessions realised a high degree of involvement and proactivity, enabling technical discussions, reflections and exchange of views with the trainers and other peers professionals and colleagues. They all got the chance to put into practice what they had learned in a final project that consisted of designing the implementation of energy need assessment and energy sources in Africa, expressing interest to have further training opportunities for a just energy transition in Africa and to support the implementation of concrete renewables projects.
