Windhoek, 6th November 2024 – RES4Africa Foundation, in partnership with the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE), Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), and the Italian Embassy in Pretoria, hosted the Growing Renewable Energy Technologies in Namibia event in Windhoek, supporting the country ambitious goals in renewable energy and green hydrogen. With government representatives, energy experts, and international stakeholders in attendance, the event explored Namibia’s unique position as a leader in Southern Africa’s green energy landscape.
Namibia’s considerable renewable resource potential, combined with its strategic regulatory advances, positions the country as a key player in the development of green hydrogen. To support this vision, sessions included Growing the Renewable Energy Industry in Namibia and Maximising the Potential of Green Hydrogen. Speakers and panellists explored critical themes such as integrating renewable energy into Namibia’s grid, investing in infrastructure, promoting regional energy trading, developing skills and supporting the sector’s workforce, and addressing the country’s essential role in local manufacturing and critical mineral supply chains.
This outreach event provided a dynamic platform for experts and policymakers to discuss actionable pathways toward Namibia’s energy transition, addressing regulatory innovations, investment requirements, and the strategic importance of cross-border energy initiatives. Through this collaboration with SACREEE, NUST and the Italian Embassy in Pretoria, RES4Africa reaffirms its commitment to empowering Namibia’s journey as a continental leader in clean energy.
