The Malawi Edition of the Technical and Vocational School completes its second session, paving the way for the final module in January 2026

20 professionals and technicians from Malawi's main Institutions and authorities have successfully concluded the second session of the Renewable Energy Training within RES4Africa's Technical and Vocational School, a hybrid capacity-building initiative focused on renewable energy systems.

Promoted by RES4Africa Foundation in collaboration with UNECA, IDEP, and Strathmore University, the Malawi edition consists of three learning sessions forming a single comprehensive curriculum.

The first session, held online in October 2025, introduced participants to renewable energy fundamentals and community energy needs, with a focus on resource assessment, rural electrification approaches, and productive uses of energy.

The second session, held in person on Malawi from 17 to 21 November 2025, provided intensive in-person training and hands-on exercises on site selection, demand assessment, load forecasting, PV system components, battery technologies, inverters, charge controllers, and system operation and maintenance.

The course combined theoretical lessons with practical working groups, giving participants direct exposure to renewable energy technologies and real-world system design. Trainers from partner institutions and private-sector experts shared valuable insights on engineering design, safety practices, and hybrid system operation, bridging the gap between theory and practice.

The Malawi edition continues to embody RES4Africa’s commitment to inclusion, youth and women empowerment, and peer-to-peer learning, fostering a network of energy professionals ready to advance sustainable electrification in their communities.

The third and final session of the training will take place in January 2026, between the 26 and 30 January 2026.

This training marks another important milestone in RES4Africa Academy’s mission to strengthen local technical capacities and accelerate Africa’s transition toward affordable, reliable, and clean energy for all.
