On the 1st of September 2022, from 11.00 am to 12.00 pm WAT, RES4Africa will host a youth-led panel, in the framework of the upcoming Africa Climate Week 2022. The discussion is organised with the support of the Italian Ministry of Ecological transition, as a part of the Youth4Capacity initiative belonging to the global Youth4Climate programme.
The Africa Climate Week aims at engaging and empowering stakeholders to drive climate action across different communities and economies. The COP26 acknowledged the importance of Regional Climate Weeks, as a platform for institutions and stakeholders to build up an effective and reaction to climate change. In particular, the 2022 edition of the Africa Climate will be hosted by the Government of Gabon, organised by UN Climate Change in collaboration with global partners UN Development Programme, UN Environment Programme and the World Bank Group, together with the Africa Union, the Africa Development Bank, the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and UN Gabon.
The panel hosted by RES4Africa will be composed by members of the Youth Task Force. They will address key issues connecting the African young generations and energy transition, such as upskilling their competencies, providing adequate financial aid for youth-led sustainable initiatives, and favouring the involvement of young Africans in climate policymaking and recommendations.
