On November 9th, 2023, in the framework of the Ecomondo, RES4Africa will hold Africa Green Growth event, at the Rimini Expo Centre, Italy, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
In recent years, the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus approach has gained significant prominence on the international development stage. This approach, linked to 14 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has become central to discussions within international and financial institutions. The WEF Nexus approach explores the intricate connections between water, energy, and food systems, offering insights into innovative business models that can address critical development needs. When scaled up, these models have the potential to enhance economic productivity, promote socio-economic well-being, and equip countries with the capacity to tackle the challenges posed by climate change. Notably, the African continent is among the regions most affected by climate change, with projections indicating substantial increases in water consumption, food demand, and electricity demand by 2030.
The Africa Green Growth event intends to promote and explore the latest developments in the WEF Nexus landscape. Shedding light on existing business models and financing mechanisms, offering a comprehensive view of the current opportunities and challenges in Africa. The goal is to pave the way for integrated projects, ranging from agrivoltaics to precision irrigation and cold storage solutions, to address these pressing issues.
The gathering will witness the presence of multiple African government representatives, associations, institutions, qualified media, and commercial delegations to establish a solid network between the industrial and institutional sectors, allowing the different stakeholders to introduce the guidelines for the sectors under discussion for the next few years.
